The order includes 13 fully-electric SkyBus airport shuttles for Melbourne, and 21 Euro 6 RC2 buses, which will support Kinetic’s ongoing investment in modern, high-performance fleets throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Engineered for Performance, Reliability and Scale
Designed and manufactured by GBV, the only certified vehicle manufacturer (WMI) in New Zealand, the new buses reflect a focus on operational reliability, passenger comfort, emission reduction, and long-term fleet efficiency.
Each component is carefully chosen to meet the demanding duty cycles of high-frequency public transport services. The buses feature proven powertrains that ensure consistent high-performance and ease of maintenance.
GBV’s approach, from concept to completion, ensures that each vehicle is tailored to suit Kinetic’s operational requirements, including layout, system integration, durability, and serviceability throughout the fleet’s lifecycle.
Technical Integration and Safety Focus
The new vehicles will be built on King Long and MAN chassis, both recognised globally for their safety, structural integrity, and performance in commercial passenger applications.
GBV’s innovative interlocking aluminium body frame, Locline™, enhances strength, durability, efficiency, and passenger safety.
Across the fleet, GBV will incorporate advanced vehicle control systems and safety technologies that exceed current regulatory standards. This will help boost driver confidence and improve passenger safety in high-density environments.
Supporting Kinetic’s Network and Growth
Kinetic is Australasia’s largest bus operator, delivering essential transport services across urban and regional networks. This new build program supports Kinetic’s continued fleet renewal strategy, ensuring vehicles are equipped to meet growing passenger demand while maintaining service reliability.
The delivery of the 34 buses in 2026 further strengthens the long-standing partnership between GBV and Kinetic, both organisations committed to transport solutions that meet the evolving needs of operators, drivers, and passengers.
