The inaugural Aotearoa Hydrogen Awards in 2023 marked a defining moment for New Zealand’s hydrogen sector, celebrating those leading the country’s transition toward a low-emissions energy future. With 42 nominations and 24 finalists across six categories, the awards showcased an exceptionally high standard of innovation, technical excellence and industry commitment across the nation.
Mike Parker was named a finalist in the Person of the Year category, recognising his leadership and contribution to the advancement of hydrogen technology in Aotearoa New Zealand. GBV was also named a finalist in the Innovation Excellence category, highlighting its role in delivering practical hydrogen transport solutions. The Innovation Excellence award was ultimately won by Emirates Team New Zealand, with GBV accepting the award on behalf of the team in recognition of its pivotal role in the development and integration of hydrogen systems that helped deliver world-leading marine hydrogen technology.
